I am a qualified supervisor (PG Cert Supervision) and offer supervision to trainee / qualified psychotherapists and counsellors, as well as to people from caring professions such as social workers, education providers and support workers etc. I have taught and supervised postgraduates, including counselling and psychotherapy trainees, at universities in Liverpool and Warwick.
I believe supervision is a place for reflection and curiosity in order to non-defensively explore current practice. I think it’s also important to provide a supportive and challenging focus to promote development, awareness and understanding of the complexities of the work undertaken.
The level of supervision you require will depend on your caseload and experience. You may need to check the ethical requirement of your professional body to ensure you have the correct client: supervision ratio.
